SK and AB are the places to be this time of the year. The Holiday Season has some of the very best Round Dances. For those who want some info, send us an email. There are so many good round dances right now. If you are in the mood, you can find one every weekend and many throughout the week. The hard part is making the decision on which one to go to. We are currently putting together a Calendar for those who want to know when and where and we are hoping that people out there will send us an email when their Round Dance is coming up.
For those who have never been, a Round Dance is a must see and attend event. The ceremony is beautiful. I don’t want to make it sound like I am all knowing about the Round Dance; really, I am more on the other end of not knowing. Luckily I have friends who don’t mind sharing their knowledge. I think a certain amount of that is personal so I will not go into detail. That is not the purpose of this blog entry. The purpose is to get you up and out the door to your closest one and to let you know that we will be creating a Round Dance Calendar on our site. That is the purpose.
If you need help deciding though, I would suggest following your favorite singers. I personally look for (in no order) Marc Longjohn, Randy P, Glenn Lewis, Arnold Alexis, Brad Crane, Jack Bull, Eugene Cardinal, Matthew Thomas, Harvey Dreaver, Clayton Chief, Nathan L., Gordon McGilvery, Ken Pooyak. There are others that I really enjoy listening to too, it hard to say there is a favorite. I know there are others, but If I were to list all the good Round Dance singers in Indian Country this blog would be so long.
If your health will permit it, try to go to the bigs one and the small ones. The feeling is a little different at each of them, but the spirit should really be the same. I hope you can go to some this year. HI HI!
